About Masafer Yatta

Masafer Yatta is a collection of 19 villages in the South Hebron Hills of the West Bank, Palestine. This rural region is considered "Area C", which are territories of the West Bank that are under complete control of the Israeli government and it's occupation force and make up more than 60% of the West Bank. While Palestinians in these areas are subjected to millitary checkpoints which they cant cross without special permits, the Israeli apartheid law allows Israeli citizens to have complete freedom of movement through these areas, areas that are used as a large and important part in the zionist settler project of greater Israel. The zionist regime tactically places violent settlers on hills over the Palestinian villages. Protected by the law, the army and the police, the settlers use physical and psychological terror on the Palestinians with the goal of running them out of their villages and taking over. This system of violence and intimidation backed up by the law creates a living environment of constant danger and fear, and we see the situation escalating day by day - communites attacked, villages burnt and destroyed and Palestinians having everything taken away from them while the settlers are getting more and more power. Masafer Yatta is an area which is extremely prone to attacks, where not a day goes by peacefully. Any attempt by the Palestinians to resist their living being taken away from them can result in arrests, violence or worse - loss of lives. As an answer to this emergency situation people in many different cities are standing up, raising their voices and organizing, both to collect money for those communites so they can hopefully recover and rebuild what is taken from them by the Israeli occupation, as well as to show solidarity with the Palestinians living under the violent zionist regime - and to state that we will keep fighting until its fall. Keep resisting, Keep fighting, Long live Palestine!

The global Solidarity weekend: We are standing up, raising our voices and organising events, both to collect money for communities in the West Bank opposing Israeli occupation and displacement, as well as to show solidarity with the Palestinians living under the occupation of the violent zionist regime. The funds will help improving medical care and strengthen countermeasures against attacks. The local palestinian activists chose the Sumud and will decide themselfes about the detailed usage of the funds.
